Luckily, I have had experience designing coins in the past. The real challenge with coins is not only undertanding the options — this coin utilized a deep purple epoxy background — but knowing the precision with which the strike die needs to be designed. The other challenge unique to this job was tracking down all four of the military insignias. Once that was accomplished, the Navy and Marines marks were so complex, they needed to be almost redesigned to be compatible with the coin-striking process.
