This 'widget' was conceived in the hope of picking up recuring revenue from radio stations who could easily implement the tool. Together with the Jones Radio network, we developed this tool to automatically display a playlist of music from the station, highlighting the currently playing song and automatically updating itself as new songs begin and end. The true wow-factor of this widget is the database connectivity from a Flash application and the ability of the database to recieve an emailed playlist, parse out the relevant information, and insert it into the database ... automatically. A number of other companies and individual radio stations had attempted the same thing, but ran into problems. I was able to track down the problem, and devise a solution that allowed us to be the first — and for a while, only — company able to accomplish this service.
