Miyachi International pocket folders
design objectives
This was my first project with the Unitek Miyachi corporation. I was contacted about doing a re-design of their Miyachi brand pocket folders. They needed something more professional looking than previous products, but needed this project to adhere to a strict budget.
design challenges
The major challenge with this project was to keep costs down. This was achieved through a decision to use a two-color printing process, rather that a full-color, four-ink process. Traditional designs for non full-color printing utilize the use of simple block-and-line layouts, duotones or monotones, or combinations of the two. I had an idea that could simulate four-color process, while still using only two inks. The final product was a very dynamic peice that gave the illusion of full color artwork, and still remaining within the company's budget restrictions.
